Go for it Bob! Don't let the negative noise bother you. It's your car. Make it your own.

Thank you for that picture (jntdysf) !!! That's definately something I could live with. I don't think you can replace the "cool" factor of the '63 split window. Like I stated in my post ...I'm going to do it because "I want to"......

As was mentioned above, after the 64 came out, a lot of 63 owners just updated by cutting out the bar and putting a 64 window in. Therefore, you should be able to reverse that process. In rebuilding a 63 roof, you have to get a 64-67 roof and add the bar and do a little body work.

If I had a 64 and it was not a numbers matching car but a driver, I would probably make it look like a 63. You can buy the fake vents on the B posts and insert them on your 64.

Why worry about the visibility? Nowadays it's easy to install an in-dash cam to make sure no cops are hiding behind the "split"...

I have seen one 63 were the split was taken out.

The rear glass did not fit (there was a gap around the outside). So the hole is not the same.

There was a thread a few months ago that showed the special glass for it.

Thats funny, a 64 glass went right into the hole when I cut the 63`s post out. As a previous reply indicated, you cannot see out the back very well with the 63 as the rest of the Stingrays.

Here's a suggestion...and please don't take this as a wise a** comment.

Sell your '64, then take that money and add the money it would have cost you to modify it and apply it towards buying an original '63 SWC.

I believe you'd be much happier in the long run, and less apt to make a modification that won't be well received by those in the know...

I say go for it! I've read numerous times that people cut the bar out of their SWCs and put in later glass with no problems so the other way around should be pretty simple.
