Anyone out there have any experience with Lizard Skin? It is a spray-on heat and sound absorbing ceramic coating. Planning to use it on a 63 resto-mod.
Yes, I sprayed it on the (interior) floor of my '60 and right up and under the cowl. I put 3 coats down. When it dried it was hard as a rock. If I dropped a tool on it it was loud as though I was dropping the tool on the bare fender. I was not happy with its lack of sound attenuation. Perhaps it is great for heat but not as a sound deadener and I wanted both. I then purchased Dyna-Mat. This rubberized product could not be any easier to apply. Just peel off the backing paper and she'll stick to anything. Once again I started with the under dash at the windshield base and applied it down the firewall onto the floor and up the back behind the seats. I could not be happier with a product. Very easy to apply - just cut it with scissors and it will form around whatever you want. Deadens the road noise and makes the car seem more substantial. A happy side note is that unlike jute it can't get wet. It does not absorb moisture, it's rubber. Also if you have a lot of tiny holes, cracks and seams in your firewall/floor - it seals them...
Honestly, I should sell this stuff. By the way if you want half a 5 gallon pail of Lizard Skin you can have my leftover.
In my opinion it was a waste of money. I would stick with Dyna-Mat.
I have no idea about its heat dissapating qualities as I put Dyna-Mat over it before driving the car. All I know is that it dries hard as a rock and just tapping it with my finger nail would cause a sharp sound. Maybe others will swear by it. I'm just telling you my experience with it.
As always free advice is worth what you pay for it...
