Where would be a good central location when you have members from NY. to Calif. and from Alaska to Fl. and everywhere in between? Have it in Indianapolis Indiana so I would not have to travel to far.
I agree that we are spread out However we could put it to a vote as far as what part of the country would be best.
or divide the forum E/W/S/N/ and we can decide to attend or not.

Personally I would make an effort to attend this type of event just to see and meet the people that make this forum such a great venue for the Corvette enthusiast

I brought my 66 390hp Florida to Bloomington Gold. I parked it in the Corvette Forum parking area expecting to meet a few C-1/C-2 forum menmbers there. I had the only mid-year in the whole parking area for Corvette Forum.
The NCM is doing a Nation Wide Caravan in Sept of 2009 for there 15th anniversary celabration. That would be a great time for C1 & C2 members to meet if you are planning on going. Maybe even do dinner one night? WHAT DO YOU THINK? I know I will be there with about 20 other Vettes from our Corvette Club.

there was the classic corvette extravaganza (CCX) at the NCM in October of this year. It was a lot of fun ... mostly C3's from C3VR but a couple of C'1s and C'2s showed up.
it was posted on this site ... apparently too far for many ... We did 1000 miles that weekend in the 64 ... it was great.

I like the idea of the '09 NCM anniversary as a meeting time and place. I have attended each anniversary, so this one is on my calendar. Lets keep working this up.

You don't want my opinion, cause it'll be ugly!

People are NEVER, EVER realistic when they talk about the "center" of the country. If you lay out a map of the U.S. and place a ruler from upper Maine to San Diego, and then place a ruler from Seattle to Miami, they cross in the area of southern Kansas/northern Okla. Thus, the true center of the country is more realistically in the area of OKC or Wichita.
If you're going to talk about a central location that is more realistic for everyone, then be more realistic about where the REAL center of the country acutally is!!!!!!
If you want to include Alaska and/or Hawaii, then that REALLY changes the center location!
GET REAL FOLKS, places like Boling Green ain't the center of the U.S.!!!!!

The reason I said the NCM is because of the Nation Wide Caraven in Sept. 2009. I just figured that a lot of people from all over would be going and that would be a good time and place to meet.

The NCM sounds good to me. Haven't been back there in 10 years. I'll drive my 67 from Reno, NV.
After all Isn't Bowling Green the center of our Corvette Universe? I can pick others up along the way.
It'll Be Fine In 09' to join with the same kind...LOL!!!

Two years ago I parked in the Forum Club parking at Mid-America, all that was there was C-5s. I could not get a one of them to talk to me. I have better luck by dropping a thread on here and setting a meet there. Has worked well at mid-America , Bloomington Gold and Power Tour, this year. This Forum has good people to spend time with.

This map illustrates the median population center of the US as determined by the 2000 cencus. Note this is "median population" which means "equal population" distribution on all sides of this point.

This is only two hours from Bowling Green. 'Course, we could host it right here in Indiana. It's beautiful country at that dot on the map.

The reality is that after spending years restoring a solid axle or mid-year people don't want to drive them on 2000 mile trips. The uncertainty of weather and breaking down in an older car and damage from crap on the roads isn't that appealing. I drive my older Vettes all the time but just won't do the really long trips in them. I drive the newer Vette on long trips to big events.
