Default C2/C3 front end differences

I have a front suspension & brakes from a mid-70s (do not know the exact year) Corvette. Will all the a-arms, brakes, rotors, etc interchange on my C2?

According to the Ecklers website all of the parts are the same part number from 65-82.

The bearing sixe on the spindles are different, but if you have the whole thing including the spindle it will bolt up.

As long as the 69-82 spindles and hubs are together, all is well.

The spindle, bearings, hub, and steering knuckle are different. The 70 setup is better. You need to keep the 4 part together and they will be interchangeable with the rest.

I still haven't figured out why a little ol' Corvette needs 3/4-ton truck rated bearings, though. Was there some sort of failure issue with the smaller bearings?

My guess would be that it had nothing to do with weight but to reduce bearing surface speeds at higher rotation speeds and only a factor in sustained high speed driving. Just a guess though.

I think it had something to do with the fact that the then new 8" wheels had a relatively significant negative offset and loaded the bearings (especially the outer bearing) more heavily than the old 5.5" or 6" wheels. After all, all of the added width was outboard of the hub. (At least that is what I recall from the automtoive press and the racing community in those days...)
