Default Ads?

I've kind of gotten used to ignoring the ads pops, but the dential thing is pretty gross. I wish the owners would keep to auto related.

100% I wrote a thread in the c3 general asking the mods to stop or ban these ads from the forum. Reply was to download an ad blocker. I did so & still get them. This is a great forum w/great members. We don't need pop-up ads or spam mail.

Might it be that those of us who are "supporting" members of the Forum don't get the pop-ups?

I don't see them, so that's just a guess. If that is, in fact, the case, perhaps it's a subtle effort to motivate more Forum members to become supporting members? Then again, as my laptop is issued by my company, they may have pre-installed a pop-up blocker.

I became a supporting member over two years ago to help out the Forum, so if the lack of pop-ups on my monitor screen is a benefit, it's icing on the cake.

My pop-up blocker does not let a single one through. The only ad I see now is the one on the first post of each thread.

Probably out to get a good pop-up blocker, because these things are not going away. This is the how the owners make money, and they ain't going to turn away revenue.

I think the confusion is, outside of the weird spike in ad-related posts, all of which are locked as soon as a mod sees it, is that there aren't any pop ups.

Some people who post dont know the difference between a pop-up ad and the ad that the new owners are inserting in the first post of every thread.

John,

I never see an ad on the 1st or any other post. I did when they first changed over after sold but haven't seen those for a long time!

That was something that was done after the initial complaints. We've paid for our bandwidth.

Steve, you may be right. If the single ad at the first post of every thread is what people are griping about, then that is being pretty picky!
These ads are clearly not going away. These people bought this forum for the revenue that it brings in, and that is simply the price of admission, take it or leave it.
