Default Electrical help please!!

I'm close to the end of the 67 restoration and was doing some double checking under the hood. Back by the wiper motor I found a couple wires for some reason didn't hook up. Then I started looking and couldn't find where they go. This is my 1st restoration ever SOOOOOO I could use some more help. There is a L shape(2 wire) connection coming through the firewall from under dash harness. It comes through the firewall close to the oil line grommet I believe. I think the wires are pink and yellow. Sorry the picture didn't turn out too good. The other wire is a dark brown or black wire coming out of the harness along the firewall. Also couldn't find the ground connector/wire that plugs into the wiper motor located on the bottom front of wiper case. Don't know if that is what the dark wire is and the connector got cut someway or not. I ran out of time and didn't have a chance to trace them back yet. Thought maybe someone would know right away what they are. Thanks again for any help.

Shooter

Hope it doesn't sound too confusing.

The L shape connector is probably for the reverse switch, my color diagram shows pink and green wire though. The backup switch is on the tranny (4 speed) and the wire from it plugs in here.

The other one is probably the wiper ground, should be on the ignition harness. Should be black. Might want to use an ohm meter and verify it is ground first, should be 0 ohms across the engine.

Thanks for the reply, I'm heading to the shop to check it out. The reverse switch sounds reasonable, the other end may be hung up below where I didn't see it. The wires may be pink and green as yours, my light wasn't the best. I'll hit the other one with the meter.

Yup, that's the connector for the backup light switch - the pigtail harness that's part of the switch has the mating female connector on it; you can see it at the bottom of the photo below.

The thumbnail photo shows the wiper motor ground spade - it's in the center of the photo, under the same screw that attaches the wide copper ground strap to the motor case.

Thanks John, The picture will help out, I'm getting ready to head over and find the lost connection. As far as the wiper motor ground, if you look at your first picture with the wiring harness at the top of the picture, that is the one the wire is coming out of. It exits the harness between the wiper motor and distributor. Is that where your wiper ground comes out of also? Thanks again.

The black wiper motor ground wire comes out of the engine harness; the same wire also has a pigtail out of the harness that grounds the heater blower motor, and the other end of it has a large ring terminal that goes under the head of the outboard starter-to-block attaching bolt.

Default Hmmmm Where is it???

Well, I finally made it over to the shop (we had to go Christmas shopping first, gotta keep everyone happy you know) . Anyway the ground wire was no problem, I found the right female connector and plugged it in. I did follow the ground wire out John like you suggested and it was the same one that led to the heater and starter.

Next, the back-up switch. Raised the car and searched..... and searched................ and searched. YIP, YOU GUESSED IT, you can't find something when it's not there. I guess when "my buddy (previous owner)" said he restored the frame and drivetrain he just forgot to put the switch back on.

So now any suggestions on where to get a good switch and evrything needed to put one on? There's nothing there except the bolt holes. Need one that will pass judging so if anyone has one for sale or know which vendor reproduces the right one I'd appreciate the information. Thanks John and bweaver999 for your help.

Take care,
Shooter

Default Backup switch

I know that Dr. Rebuild as well as Long Island Corvettes has the switch. Don't forget to get the shield and the rod. The switch will have the wiring attached. Regarding the install, John Z wrote a small piece on how to install and adjust the switch. I think you can find it on Barry K's website. The hard part was jacking up the car. Good luck. Jerry

Jerry, Thanks for the information. I will check with Dr. Rebuild to see what they have. I'm hoping to find one as close to original as possible. I'm a little ticked at Long Island right now. Short story version, I got ALOT of my parts for my 67 restoration through LIC. This was my 1st restoration EVER. Started in April and just about done now. Anyway I called a couple weeks back to return the alternator belt because the one I got was too short. I got it mid August along with several other parts and tried putting it on the car. When I got it on the alternator was rubbing the valve covers and had NO adjustment. So I took it right off WITHOUT starting the car and put it back in the sleeve. MY FAULT, I SHOULD HAVED CALLED RIGHT THEN. But I grabbed something else out of the box and put it on. Then around Thanksgiving someone here on the forum posted they had problems with a belt. Happened to be the same size I had. It juggled my memory so I called Long Island told the guy that answered the phone I needed to return the belt and some other stuff. I had all the receipts and all the stuff, except the belt, HAD NEVER BEEN OPENED. The guy said as long as it was within 60 days from when it was purchased they would take it back. I had my belt 3 months when I called. I questioned him about it and explained the belt WASN'T USED for 3 months but in the sleeve it came in. He said he felt they had a VERY FAIR RETURN POLICY. Yes maybe for a business that restores cars day in and day out, but for an owner that may take 6-9-12 months or even years to restore one it's not. Anyway I spent a few thousand $$$ at Long Island on this restoration but won't be spending another dollar. In all fairness to them I didn't try calling back to try to resolve it with someone else. I don't know who the guy was I talked too because I usually spoke with a woman when I ordered stuff and she told me once she was the owner. You guys will probably see some of the stuff on here or Fleabay next month when I get done. Anyway sorry to get off subject.

Jerry I won't have to worry about jacking the car up, I bought a lift for the restoration. The old knees don't work the way they use to. Thanks again.
