Default Can I reuse my spindles?

Ok gang, here are two pics of my original (I believe) spindles from my 67 convertible.

Can these be reused?

The only way I would use them would be to weld them up and have them turned back down! But WHY, just get new ones. Cheaper in the long run.

You shouldn't even have to ask on those spindles. I don't think I've ever seen a set chewed up any worse than those.

You need to replace them.

I would not reuse those. Look on the bright side. New spindles make an excellent Christmas present for that special someone in your life.

1. Clean them
2. Inspect them
3. Paint them
4. Now they are ready to be used as paper weights.

The first spindle is clearly bad. Its badly scored from having a bearing spin on it.

Hard to tell, but the second spindle might be just fine, if the bearing seat for the large bearing is cylindrical, and is still the correct size (tight fit to the bearing races). Problem is that in the picture it looks cupped (like it necks down then back up) toward the inboard side. It could however, just be an optical illusion. I don't see any bad scoring or other evidence that a bearing has spun on it. But, my wife says I'm blind sometimes, and she might be right again...

Unless you are doing a hard core restoration, I would use the later model spindles and hubs. You get larger bearings and the spindles are much cheaper than OEM C2 units.

New spindles are no longer available. Used ones sell for $140.00 each. You might be able to get yours fixed for less than that.

Just as an idea, I had my C2 spindles repaired by hardchroming and machining, ran around $225/pair several years ago.
