I think the consensus is that the ones without zerks are stronger,
I don't think the zerks are really needed in a good quality U joint.
I can't remember the good brands except for maybe moog,
I'm sure someone else knows.
Unless you really thrash the car, the strength issue probably doesn't mean much, although the originals didn't have zerks either. IMO, the best "U"-joints out there are Spicer.
RE: The zerkless joints-
U-Joints snap off close to the point where the seal rides. The culprit is usually the hollow, drilled out part of the joint. If you buy a zerkless u-joint for the benefit of solid trunions, then check the product before you take it home. Many zerkless u-joints are drillled just like greaseable u-joints.... which defeats the purpose of going zerkless. A small drilled cavity is normally required for grease retention/expansion, but if the cavity goes all the way back to the seal area, then you lose. Just a heads up. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.
