Default Tele Steering Column

Is there anyone reproducing the Tele Steering Column for a 67? I would like to add this option to my car.

Look in Driveline - there are always a rebuilt column or 2 for sale every edition.

Usually they run @ $1,400

I wish they would sell for that much maybe 10 years ago. get ready to spend upwards of $3,500 for a rebuilt one.

If you find someone selling the 67 telescopic column for $1400 I will take 2 and give you a finders fee as well.

Is anyone reproducing the tele column? Maybe one that looks correct. My car is not a NCRS car.

nope. if you want an aftermarket column that is a tilt then yes. I really never understood why you would need or want the steering wheel to come close to you on a mid year, as I feel cramped in there with a standard column. Maybe because I am 6’ 2”. the only reason I would want one because of the rarity of them. hope this helps

Flaming River in Berea, Ohio sells a tilt column for the midyear. You can buy them chrome or black.

But do they offer a tele wheel? Given my long legs, and the small amount of room I have to get out of the car when I park it in my garage, I've wondered if a tele wheel would give me more room to exit the vehicle in close quarters.

I remember finding one right after I bought my 67 almost 10 years ago for $1100. I thought the guy was crazy, one was for sale at Orlando last year for $3500 and it probably sold.

Default telescoping steering shaft n/g for tall drivers

To Jeff: You will find that if you are 6ft plus, that moving the shaft will lock your knees (or lap) no matter what setting you select. (angle is impossible), regards, Abe G

I'm 6'2", so that would be me.

When I shift gears my left knee gets stuck between the steering wheel and the door pull, so I'm no stranger to the tight angles in there.

Thanks for the follow-up

I always found the 'tele' to be a good feature, especially when driving on long trips.
ps I'm only 5' 10"

If you tall guys need more room, try a smaller diameter (knee clearance) flat-spoke steering wheel.

Ladies may need power steering if they also drive the car!

I would think that a tilt from Flaming River would give you more room then the tele. They look very close to the org and you can use eighter a stock wheel or a smaller one.

With the 'tele', you can adjust it to or from your knees / belly, as you see fit.
I like to strech my arms sometimes......

Default seating angle for tall drivers on c-2 awful!

As original owner of 63 swc, I found it necessary way back to put an angle wedge on the gas pedal to adjust for comfortable seating angle. (6ft 2 inch). This was done in 64. space between steering wheel and knees (too chest) still lousy. Think about it. Regards, Abe G
