Been thinking about some engine options. I've been doing a lot of reading on various site. There are a lot of ideas out there to consider.

The crate engine is attractive, but I want to keep the script valve covers and the older look.

Has anyone used an large journal 327 block with the vent hole at the back and put a 350 crank. I'm exploring the feasibility and how reasonable it would be to use an old block with a 350 crank, retro fit a roller cam set up . Am I heading the right direction or is this just plain misdirected energy?..

I would like to have a very streetable engine, that is reliable, and around 350 horse with a nice idle. There is no way on this earth my wife will let me squirel away $10K for a motor or $7K for that matter.

any thoughts?

If you have the block stripped, it isn't any big deal to drill and tap a 3/8" NPT hole in the rear web of the block valley for a PCV connection.

Serach my name for some 427 small block posts around early this month and you will find pics.
