Default Machine Shop- Central TX

Can anyone recommend a good, but reasonable machine shop in or reasonably near the Austin area? Is it fair that I put "good" and "reasonable" in the same sentence pertaining to machine shops?

I just found an 870 block for my 64.

Thank you in advance.

My dad and all his racing friends have been using The Cylinder Head Shop in Austin for years. Not sure about their prices but I know he has built some bad-a$$ race motors for my dad over the years and has been in business for many many years. Hope this helps.

Thanks. I'll look into them.

Sundevil,

Where are you located?? I live in south Austin....

I posted a request earlier for a good engine builder (but am looking for a stock rebuild for a '58)-- would love some referrals if anyone has one.

thanks,

Ken

South Austin Machine, on the corner of S Lamar and Manchaca. I have been using these guys for years.

Hi Ken,

I'm in North Austin (Cedar Park/Leander area). I heard there is a guy up hear called "Northwest Machine" I think. I am hoping to find a shop that will work with me or give objective advice on my rebuild. I want a "stock" appearing motor, but I would like to see my options for taking advantage of new technologies. I would like to assemble myself. I have never done it.

John

Pflugerville Machine... nice guys, great little shop, they've built National
Championship IMSA Sport Mod engines... Sport Mod has strict "near
stock" rule requirements... they know how to make stock equipment
perform.
