Default 1963 Corvette Heater Duct Outlet

Hello

I am looking for anyone that has a Heater Duct Outlet 3756965 non-AC for a 1963 Corvette. I have never seen them repop.

I had and opportunity to buy a original one but I thought $400.00 was "excessive" for a piece of fiberglass..

I believe it is a one year only oddball. I think I paid nearly $100 for mine almost 10 years ago.

Good Luck!

Default look on ebay

pete,
there is one on ebay as we speak - both the heater duct (63 only piece) and the duct extension (another 63 piece) both look in very nice shape. i bought mine on ebay about 5 years ago - paid about 75.00 for it (extension only)

good luck

dean

The "Y" duct I bought from a guy here on the Forum for $85. He also had the driver side extenion piece shown in the one Ebay pix.

The one on Ebay is a good price by the way!

I was able to make a reproduction 64-67 duct work on my 63. It's not correct, but it works.

Here are some pix.

The first one is a 63 only Y duct.

The second pic is the auxillary duct which bolts to the heater assembly.

The third pic is a complete 63 heater assembly with the correct Y duct and auxillary duct installed.

The fourth pic is a 64 up duct....NOT correct for 63. Won't fit without modifications.

Hi Chuck

Thank you for your pictures...I seem to be missing alot of the hard to find parts for a 1963 Corvette...I think my car was a "parts car" for a Split Window coupe...

Hi Chuck

I think I need that license plate frame...When people ask me what year of Corvette I have...I tell them a 1963...They all as if its a coupe!

I appreciate the pictures as well. My late 63 was missing these, course I am passing on them now o/a the $s, and never came across them at a reasonable price in the past either. I made a 64 work.

But I note two differences on my Apr 30 car's heater unit ... no screw hole to attach the duct extension, and my heater/defroster crank mechanism is entirely different.

I take that back before being corrected by others ... the extension apparently uses the Y-duct mounting screw.

Default Ebay Nightmare

Hello
I was shocked to find that extension for a 1963 Corvette Heater went for $314.69 I cant believe that lil piece of fiberglass is worth that much? I guess this is the law of "supply vs demand"!

Do you think this is inflated Ebay prices or this is how much this part is really worth?

E-bay doesn't inflate prices, it's an auction and prices are simply set by the will, needs, egos, etc. of the participants.

Clearly that part was worth $314.69 to at least one person.

I'll offer this bit of perspective based on my own restoration - As you restore the car you try to find all the hard-to-find parts you need. Sometimes you buy the only copy of a part you can find, only to find a nicer version later - so you buy that one too. You bargain hunt while you can.

Eventually you find yourself with your car pretty much all done but for one or two hard to find parts, and at this point you are almost willing to pay whatever it takes to be "done" and so you end up paying silly prices for small parts, partially because you need the part, and partially because you are buying the opportunity to finally be finished.

I wouldn't pay that much for one, but on eBAY, it's an auction, and as Jeff says, it was worth that much to someone.

I've seen them for MUCH less at flea markets. Carlisle and Orlando come to mind.

I think you have to look around lil bit to find one that isnt outrageously priced. However, I see the point that it takes time to "find" these parts..Going to swap meets and scouring around takes "time" and "money"...I miss the early 90s when things were more reaonable priced!!!
