I have a Uniroyal 7:75X15 white wall bias tire from a 66 I am doing. I belive the tire is the original spare that came with the car. It is in like new condition showing only minor wear and will be offered for sale at some point, however I need some help in identifing it. The marking on both sides are as follows:
Uniroyal Larado
The Rain Tire
1336-420 65R 6
SL7872
White wall is approx 5/8" wide
It is a non DOT tire as well.
Thanks
Hank
From: Park City to SoCal - according to the map it's all down hill. No bad days in Indian Wells, California
I thought Firestones were used in 65-66. My 65 was ordered with Firestone Super Sports 775-15 tires, optional gold lines. The stock tires were Firestone 775-15 white walls.
Lot of people put the Uniroyal Rain Tire on because of the better traction and wet weather handling.

One of the OEM tires for '66 model year was U.S. Royal, specifically the Laredo tire. The whitewall width was 5/8" & the construction was two ply with four ply rating. Perhaps "Uniroyal" is correct noun, as the old (1892) U.S. Rubber Co. morphed into the Uniroyal brand name at some point.
Thanks for all the info. According to my recearch Firestone as well as U.S. Royal were OE suppliers in 66, and the tire doe's say U.S. Royal on the side wall, it was me calling it a "Uniroyal" out of habbit.
Thanks again
Hank
