Default Front windshield leak solutions

Any ideas about this fix for my 67 coupe front windshield leak..
Using soap and water mixture on the exterior front windshield and blow compressed air from the inside of windsheild after removing the interior molding to see where the air bubbles form.
Once the leak location is found, use painters tape and tape the joint on the exterior molding between chrone molding and body paint and molding and windshield. Then on the inside, spray Great stuff (the window and door stuff) through a straw to seal the unseem leaks up.. I have a new windshield gasket installed but think the pinch weld might be to low to make a good seal.
I know, don't drive in the rain , but would like to DRIVE to Funfest (Midamereica) this year and Bloomington Gold.
Thanks Chuck

The leak spotting technique sounds solid but I'd find something else besides 'Great Stuff'. Isn't that the orangeish gunk that expands like crazy ? Could stress your glass or make a mess - and could fall into the Bubba category pretty quickly. I'd find something else I think.

There are two kinds of Gereat stuff. One is used of window and door insulating so that is will not expand and cause stress problems... I was thinking of trimming any sealent off and using a perment marker the stain the exposed the sealent I can not get out behind the painters tape.???

IMHO I would not use that type of sealant. The chassis service manual outlines the proper method to seal the windshield using 3M Bedding & Glazing Compound and 3M Window Weld Resealant. You will have to pull your trim molding to do the job. I believe the Window Weld Resealant has been discontinued, however there are other products that do the same job. Check out this link for a recent discussion on this.

Most auto parts stores (like Advance Auto Parts) have them. Cost is around $6.00. It is a flat hooked tool used to release the clips under the trim.

I don't think 3m makes the stuff any more.
