Holley 3367 Carb making whistling sound
Help! Can anyone out there help me with this. My carb on my small block has been making this high pitched whistling sound and I can't get it to stop. I contacted Holley on this one and they simply siaid that some make the sound and some don't - there has to be a better resolution that that! It wasn't making the sound a few weeks ago so I tend to think that Holley's answer was a little on the inadequate side - thanks.

My first thought would have been a vacuum leak. Why don't you take a small spritzer bottle and spray some water around the carb and intake to see if it stops while you are spraying. If this worked it will help you locate the exact point of the whistle.
Are you sure it is coming from the carb?

It is probably a vacuum leak, and it's probably internal. Typically the Holley main body warps over time and must be machined flat every 5 - 10 years on the ends and bottom.

Mine was whistling like a tea kettle untill I found the throttle body shaft was causing a vacuum leak. It took lots of spritzes and patience to isolate.
Good luck

Strangely enough this happened the only time I've paid to have a Holley carb rebuilt -- a 3810 from a 67 327. The rebuild shop went thru and replaced and refurbished everything as part of the rebuild, and they checked everything when I returned the carb, but the issue was never resolved. No problem with my own rebuilds!

Mine was throttle body to carb body gasket. Dinked around for a long time between mechanics and the internet. Forum came through again. Thank you forum contributors. Sorry I didn't think to check here first.

My 3367 on my '66 did that. It was due to the phenolic carb spacer. I replaced it with the correct metal shield and gasket and also plugged the intake manifold "hot-slots" as per JohnZ's article awhile back.

I had an Edelbrock carb with a single hole manifold gasket on a stock 4-hole manifold that whistled on my Plymouth. When I changed to a proper 4-hole gasket the whistle was no longer there.
