Default Info/Help 63 block

I have a 63 that has a later block installed. I'm looking for a correct dated block for future replacement. I know I need a 3782870 casting number. It is an early OCT 62 car # 1,054, originally a 360HP
My questions are:
1. What would a correct casting date range be?
I've seen Noland Adams survey on block dates in his book, and it seems I XX 2 would be correct?
2. What is the 'accepted' procedure with a replacement motor, deck the block leave blank, leave the original numbers on the 'new' block. Or the controversial restamp. I don't want to deceive anyone in thinking it's an original motor but for my own satisfaction (craziness) want it to look correct.
3. Tracey Performance has an I 21 2 block, I have read good reviews on the forum about him, any comments?

If the car was built in October, then a September casting on the block would be ok. Blocks have been found anywhere from 6 months to a couple of days before the car's assembly, but most usually fall in the few weeks before.

I've always heard basically good things about Tracey Performance.

agree with Mark

BTW - my 1963 Z06 does not have the original motor anymore - in fact when I bought the car it had a November 1963 block in it - of course wrong for a July 1963 build date - found a block with an April casting and VIN of 15xxx which was about 4000 away from my VIN - did not deck the block - for NCRS I take a VIN derivative hit and nothing else, as broach marks are BEUATIFUL and all of rest of the stamp pad looks good - have TOP FLIGHTED the car and am going for Duntov at National in July

Not sure why, but it seems that the early '63 blocks - Sept or Oct '62 are harder to find. If the Tracey block is a good deal, not over-bored, etc, I would go for it.

Thanks to everyone who has replied.
I have a few other places to try.
Any more comments on casting date or what to do with the original stamping on the replacement block?
