Restoration Project Update

Your restorer is right, it will be much easier in the long run and the job will come out better. You can get at places you wouldn't otherwise be able to do and can replace some things (like the fuel line) that you you can't get at unless the body is off. I'm sure he has done this before and has the right lift method and body dolly to do it right. Good luck with the project.

Absolutely, you said exactly what he did. He has been doing this for 20+ years; he really knows his stuff. Whats even more fun is that he allows me to help out! I am really getting to know the car in detail.

The project becomes much more meaningful if you can get to work with someone who knows his stuff. You'll learn a lot doing it this way and the end result will be more satisfying.
We had a 66 big block coupe that we did quite a few years ago. On that one we didn't take the body off as it was literally an all original car and didn't need it but, since then, we have done two others with the body off and it makes it much easier.
Good luck with the project and have fun.
