They look like the tubes that go inside the lower channels on the front bumpers to keep the channels from crushing when you install the bolts through them.

Rich,

I never knew that they had those. Evidently the previous owner of my car thought that they were not necessary and threw them away.

If the bolts through the lower bumper extensions have been tightened very much without those in there they have probably closed up and those spacers may not fit in there now. It's still a worthwhile thing to install even if you have to trim them down to get them in. That way your can tighten the bolts snug and at least things won't loosen and shift around at that point.

but I would try to bend the bumper braces back out to allow the spacers back in place.

Not too difficult to spring them back out to where the spacers will go in.

It's not intuitive, but the bolt heads go inboard, and the nuts go on the outboard side.

I agree. Probably wouldn't be too hard to do with either a piece of all-thread or a long bolt with nuts/washers on the inside of the brace channel that can be turned to spread the walls apart.

I am about to put my bumpers back on my '64 after having them rechromed and just noticed that I don't have those bumpere spacers either, which I'll now order.
Another question I now have is I don't have any type of rubber spacers between my bumper and the bracket where it goes thru the body by the turn signal lights. Are there suppose to be any there?

Don't think so!!!! Looked at the 66 assembly manual and it doesn't show any. I cut up an old truck inner tube and made some to go on the outside of the fender to stop cracking and scratching the paint. Worked for me.

66blkBB, thanks for the info. I didn't see any either, but wasn't sure if there is suppose to be one there. Good idea you had, I'll probably do the same.
