We are redoing our 1962, total strip down and repaint. Our question is about the quality of the new red paints. We are going to paint it either Roman Red or Torch Red in a Acrylic BC/CC, PPG paint. Their are different price codes on these paints. What makes the Torch Red more expensive than the Roman Red? Will one hold up better that the other? This car will be driven a few times a month and has been upgraded with A/C and brake upgrades so it is not a stock show car. Any input would be appreciated.

Probably just has different pigments or different amounts. I dont think you will see any difference in durability.
I agree with Wombvette. The same paint line for a manufacturer will have the same or very similar durability across colors. Different lines will have differences but that is not your question.
Red color prices can vary wildly based on the composition of the individual color's formula. It can be a very expensive color to use . . .
Bob, I just went through this and decided on single stage paint. Reason being it was easier to panel paint the car. IMO single stage looks more like lacquer than BS/CC, also it was about half the cost. It was a dream to color sand and buff. I really like the Roman Red a lot but, them I am a big fan of the old colors. I would consider painting my C6 Roman Red if it would not distroy the resale. Go figure. Don't have a clue as to why one red costs more than another. BTW good looking '62 and "Good Luck" with whatever you decide.
