I don't clearly see the louvers but having owned a couple of 58's I can tell you this! The car is the right color of "Red" if you want to call it that. I aways felt like the 58 red looked more orange, and this one does. I can't see the wheels very good either but in 58 the actual wheel (what you see around the wheel cover) should be silver. I would say you have a dead ringer! *58*. It was a one year only car for the louvered hood, chrome trunk spears, and a few other minor differences. The 58 is my favorite car. Thanks for the picture.
zadspal,
Must be a shadow so what year is it then? Can you tell from this angle?
If it's not a 58 (I see no louvers either), then it's either a 59 or 60. My memory fails me this morning but I think the only visual cue for a 59 versus 60 was in either the grab bar aluminum trim (something about the existence, or not, of the red/blue trim pieces), or radio face, and both are in the interior of the car anyway.

I own a 1960 and still can't remember the very minor differences between the '59 and '60. My taillight lenses say '59 on them but that is an easily replaceable item. As for the fake louvers, I can't see them on the photo but the dead giveaway is the chrome trunk spears.

The date molded into the taillight lenses is the year that design of lens was certified as meeting the SAE photometric requirements, not the year of the car they were used on.

Jeff, as I recall, sunvisors became an option in 59 as well, but it's impossible to determine from STLBLUES's pic if that shadow is sunvisors or the inside of the top.
Neat that picture is in reverse driver and out side mirror on wrong side.Signet red colour for the 58 year only,59&60s had the real red colour Roman red.
I blew up the photo and based on what I could see of the wheels, if the rims are correctly painted, it is either a '58 or '59 since the rims don't appear to be painted red (painted body color in '60). '58 was silver and '59 was black and the rim color just inside the white wall appears to be darker and not red. Now if the wheels are not painted correctly, all bets are off and I have no idea. just my 2 cents. Either way, it's a great photo and nicely done without making it blurry or driving yourself into the jersey barrier!
It sure looks like there are louvers to me! I went out to the shop and measured mine, it is 11" from grill to hood opening, 22" from hood opening to the start of the louvers and 32" from the start of louvers to windshield. When you get down low like the angle of this picture it's like looking down railroad tracks. You get a distorted view. Food for thought!

Quickest way I can tell is the seat stitching runs a different way on 59 and 60 if the upholstery is original style.
I vote for 60. I think the rims are black and what you see on the hood is a reflection. You can see a similar reflection to the right side as well.
If somebody finds a red with white coves C2 with red instead of black inside the eyebrows, look closer and let us know for sure.

No offense but, you guys need glasses! There are louvers on the hood. So it's a '58.
I do agree with you I felt like I could see louvers but not clearly. and I said it before, this color was a 58 only! 59-60 red cars were more red and not orangie like this 58. My money says it's a 58!
It's threads like this that keeps me comming back to this site.
Thanks Corvette Forum you have a bunch of great members!
