Firday afternoon I was in the process of installing the dash on the 66 vert that I am restoreing. Had the dash bolted in place and had the radio in and was putting the bexels and ***** on. I open the pack of new bezels and *****. I'd say there about a 15 foot walk between the table and the car. I took the upper bezels and ***** for the upper A/Cand installed them walked back to the table got the next two bezels and ***** and did the same. Everthing is going good. went back and got the two the the radio and back to the car. Did the bezel and **** for tuning, one more set to go and I'm all done. Reached down to get the **** and bezel for the volume and no bezel (??????????).
Went back to the table not there. Back to the car and moved everything there not there. Did I drop it between the table and the car? Still no bezel. (DAMN). Went between the car, the floor and the table several times. picked up everything I seen. Got the old bezel thinking I could paint it with some chrome paint and use it. Didn't look right. Got my girlfriend out to the shop and had her look too. Figured another set of eyes may help. Still no bezel. Called it the evening and went in the house. My girl friend said that their could be a gemlin in the shop and I nedded to talk to it and make friends. HAHAHAHA
Next morning I headed into the shop and their in the middle of the floor was a plastic bag with the bezel in it. I am bewildered as to how I missed it or how it got there.
Probably leprechans just getting ready to mess with people on St. Patty's day. My wife disappeared today ( haven't had a chance to look for her, working on replacing my heater core.
Dang,
You guys made my day. I (and my wife) thought I was the only one getting old and forgetful. There is not a day that goes by that I have not lost something, St. Anthony (Patron Saint of lost articles) always comes thru for me.

Years ago I believe the Twilight Zone explained this phenomenon.
Every moment of every person's day is actually constructed in sequence by little workers. From time to time, one of the workers misses a detail for the moment they are constructing. As a result, you are momentarily unable to locate something that you were just sure you saw moments ago because that item didn't make it into "this" moment.
Then before you know it, there it is again right where you were sure you left it.
You see, the worker who built the moment when the part is missing, failed to place that part into position. The worker who built the next moment, didn't make the same mistake.
You will grow beyond this. The next step is to gather all parts for a project as you have already done, turn around and do something entirely different. This is a short run, as you will progress to filling up the day starting many many jobs. It is fun if you don't take yourself too seriously. Problem is, it seems to be a FAST TRAIN. Good luck
