Default Engine number help

I found a 265 v8 with the # stamped on it that reads 0903F556FG.
I read that the FG could be a 55 vette but could also be a 55 or 56 passenger car or truck. Is this accurate or does the 0903 coincide with the #s that were used on a vette? Also,I read that the 3s between the F's(556) should be 55 or 56. Could it be 556?
I try to do my own research but some things can only be learned through experience. Any help would be appreciated. Andy.

Are you sure you have the numbers right after the "0903F"? I think you have an extra digit between the two F's.
