I have been wondering what was in this location on the left (drivers side) inner fender on my '58 Corvette. There are four holes where something was mounted. Any ideas?
The only factory item mounted in that area is the FI air cleaner assy. Is your car numbers matching? Was it a fuelie?
I really don't know..the block is a replacement 283 currently running a 230 hp config. with powerglide. I do know that a lot of stuff ( hardtop, radio, etc.) had been taken off/replaced by previous owners.. I was just wondering about this space that looks like it is missing something.
The circular vent opening in the radiator support (in your pic in front of the hood prop) would be open on a fuelie whereas carburated versions would have a solid block-off plate there. Also look inside the fenders above the coves for evidence of the fuelie emblem mounting holes that may have been filled in. Maybe someone who knows or has a fuelie will chime it...
BTW, I went to CHS and lived in the Cary/Raleigh for over 30 years before moving to K'ville. Have alot of vette buds in the area.
