Section 1 of the '63 Corvette Shop Manual, or -- Section 1B of the '66 Chassis Service Manual (Chevy, Chevelle, Chevy II, Corvette) has pretty good detail with photographs, isometric drawings, etc.
This is as close as i can find under the search engine to my hardtop problem. I have a hardtop purchased off ebay (for a 65) that I have installed new weatherstripping on. I tried to put it on the car last week, to take it out to get painted, and it lacks about a 1/4 inch of bolting up in the back holes (not the ones on the deck, but the ones right behind the doors). When I take it lose from the front winsheild posts, i can bolt it, but am afraid to "force it" by closing the latches on the windscheild, for fear of cracking the back deck. I can see no adjustments on the back brackets. What am I missing? I went to section one of the shop manual, but it doesn't address adjustments. Thanks in advance.
After I rebuilt mine I found it next to impossible to get those bolts in, due to the new rubbers. I installed the butterfly fasteners at the rear on the deck loosly. Then I lifted the deck at the front a few inches and put a folded towel between the bottom rubber on the deck lid and the top of the door sil. Let the deck sit on the towel, get someone to put pressure on the top of the H/T on the right or left side and insert the bolt. the towel stops the rubber from compressing all the way. Not sure if I explained this very well , but this is the method I still have to use 2 years after the fact.
