If you push in on the spiring loaded button on the switch under the dash you can pull the **** with the shaft straight out.
Unscrew the bezel counterclockwise and it's off. Unfortunatly the bezel is all that holds the switch to the dash, But I don't think it will fall out.
good luck
JBar is describing the headlight switch, not the ignition switch. To get the bezel off the ignition switch, you need to remove the center part where the key goes in. You don't have to remove the whole switch, just that center part. Then you can unscrew the old bezel and screw in the new one.
Traditionally to remove the center of the ignition, you do the following:
Insert key
Turn to the left
Insert paperclip in small hole next to the key, and push
Turn key more to the left
Pull - the whole center of the switch should come out.
Then, with that out of the way, the bezel should unscrew.
