I had mine done last fall. Much to my surprise, the installer was able to re-use all of the original parts. I was really surprised, especially with the gasket. I think that once he removed it, he soaked in some type of liquid before re-installing. Finished product looks great.
John, I would replace the windshield gasket and the the trim clips. I think that the gasket is about 40 bucks from the supply houses and the clips are about 20 bucks.
Buy the molding clips from Paragon - most of the other vendors' clips are Taiwan junk, and will break.
John is right on that, most of the replacement clips don't work well at all.
The good news is that replacement clips are still available from GM under part # 3904931, they work great and come in bags of four. A close friend who is the parts manager at a Chevrolet dealership looked them up for me when I needed to replace mine. These are correct for the vert lower and I believe they are the same for coupe. If I remember right you need 12 for a vert lower molding and a total of 24ish for coupe? Hope that helps.

Anyone for sure if these clips work for the Coupe windsheild as well? GM # 3904931
According to the Assembly Manual, they both used the same clip. 23 on the coupe and 11 on the convertible. But the manual gives the part number as 3843939. Pages F112 and F113 in the '66 manual.
