450hp????
Get this. I emailed the seller and politely pointed out the build date as it relates to the 450hp claim. Surprisingly, he answered. He goes thru the history of why 450hp became 425hp and that the engines themselves were not changed at all. Therefore he concludes that all the engines are actually 450hp; so he can advertise it as such.
I wrote back and mentioned that the particular car he is selling was advertised, sold and delivered as a 425hp car, and what he is doing is fraud. Doubt I will get another response. He clearly is a dealer in "expensive" cars, and he quoted me the history of the gentlemens agreement between GM and the government that resulted in the downrating of the engines to 425hp. There is no mistake or lack of knowledge at his end.
I'm going out now to my "rare dealer option '64 383 cu.in.roadster"
to get the paper. I wonder what it is worth at a dealer in Fla?

From what I can see in the photos, he's misrepresenting a lot more than the HP of the engine.
I'll be damned if I'll point out to him what I see in the pics. The misrep can be proven, unequivocally, by what I see.

BTW: Your profile says that the '64 has "hookers". Where do they sit when you're driving (the car)?
Do you belong to the Central NJ Chapt NCRS? Maybe I know you.
I just got back to Vettes after being away for a number of years. I have not been active in any clubs. I'm not really an NCRS guy, as you probably realized from the details about my car.
It is nice to see someone appreciated my header humor. Only one at a time in the car, and then in my lap? Ahhh....the good old days.
I was not trying to educate this guy, rather I wanted to try to smoke him out about what he knew. He knows all right, and doesn't care; obviously he is all about the big $$. In my second email to him I just mentioned the "other issues" with his car; without saying what they are. Just to let him know that there are people looking who know what the truth is. Maybe it will get his attention, but I doubt it.
I have a few buddies with mid-years in the Mercer County area. I am going to try and get an informal group together.......Mercer Area Mid-years. No officers, rules, official meetings, dues etc. Just gather at some local places for burgers, brews and other health food. Plan trips and attending show, and generally talk about the cars. The term Mercer "Area" can mean whatever we want it to mean. If you are interested, or know anyone in the "area" who might be, please let me know.
As for representing that seller, or any of the frauds out there; not a chance. I would rather sue them for consumer fraud. It won't eliminate the problem, greed is too strong; but it might help.

Hell, there are all kinds of NCRS guys out there. Just because you have hookers in your Corvette doesn't make you a bad guy!
Reason I asked, is because when I belonged to the Chapter, we had our meetings in the K of C Hall, off of rte 130 in Hightstown. Meetings are still held there, despite the fact that I no longer attend
If you're gonna make a fraud car, then you'd better cover all the bases.......especially when "big money" is involved.

I'll give him/her the benefit of the doubt. This seller has quite a few cars for sale from various makes. I'm guessing they are a used car dealer that didn't bother to research any of the "facts" provided to them about the car from the person they bought it from.
Doesn't matter why they are wrong on their facts, just another example of why the buyer's have to be educated in their purchases.
