Default Help! I'm missing something...

I seem to be missing something from my Air Cleaner, but not sure what. I have a 327/350hp stock engine, but there is a hole in the base of the carb cover where I am sure something is supposed to go, but is missing. Is there a vent tube that connects to a rubber connection that leads from the oil fill tube? Also, does that vent tube need a flame arrestor in the carb cover? Is there also a PVC valve in the line where the two connect? Thanks...Nick

That hole is part of your positive crankcase ventilation as you concluded. Yes, there is a flame arrestor (screen).

What year 327/350 are you asking about?

Yes, your 67 uses a PVC that is in-line between the oil filler tube and the carb. Here is an example and an explanation which JohnZ previously posted:

The flame arrestor looks like this

There should be a hose that runs from the oil fill tube to the base of the carb.

Then there should be a tube that comes from the block with a rubber hose that connects it to base of the air cleaner.

Dave, thanks for the pics...it looks like from the illustration that I am missing the tube inside the air cleaner base that the flame arrester sits on, which connects to the hose which connects to the crankcase tube (which are both in place). Anyone know if this would affect performance or just emissions or both? Thanks all...Nick

YES. This is the inlet side of the system. You need to have FILTERED air going into the engine system. Over time this could present some issues. There should be a 3/8" hose from the oil fill tube to the carb as well. This is the "suction" side of this evacuation system.
