How much redundancy of work would there be to have one body shop completely remove & replace my front clip and another body shop paint it?
What is a reasonable time for a very experienced shop to remove and replace the clip? Procedurally, is there any reason that the work couldn’t be continuous?
I called two shops here in FL when I was headed down this road, my front end was already removed so I just needed to install a new one.
Shop #1 said $50 per hr and it will cost what it cost.
Shop #2 said $75 per hr with min of 80 hrs.
Call me cheap but there was no way I was going to pay someone $6000 to bond a front end on. I did the job myself.
I charge about $1000 +- depending on what is installed with it, hood fit, etc. That is with one of my fronts. The one piece hand layed need inner fenders etc. installed and tend to be more time consuming than the good jig fits.
I have the body repair guides by Schiro that may have some pics that may be helpful in deciding whether to try and pull it off yourself. If you're interested, let me know and I'll try to email a few to you. If you want to try and schedule a day one weekend, I can maybe give you a hand with it.

Do you have a step-by-step guide/illustrations for front/rear quarter panel repairs? My '67 needs 'em and i wanna do 'em right.
Brumbach: I'd like to see more of your progress updates to help me along as well.
pda1964: I am looking into doing the same thing. In the posting
you mentioned an article that you had concerning this type of work.
Any chance of you emailing it to me or where you got that info?
also, I need to replace a rear quarter, then the nose. I was told to set the car in place on the chassis before cutting things apart. The rear quarter I can understand by using the doors and deck lid to line it up, but the nose? My thought is that the nose could be removed for cowl cleaning by soda blasting then the new nose fitted to the balance of the body after the quarter is done? If I set the whole car up on the chassis (which is already totally rebuilt and painted) then remove the nose, I don't see where the new nose will have any connection with the original. Comments?
