NCRS/Bloomington
At Bloomington Gold, a 4-person team (Exterior, Interior, Engine Compartment, and Chassis) spends about 23 minutes evaluating the car, using their own knowledge (almost all BG judges are also NCRS Master Judges, although no printed NCRS reference material is used on the BG judging field), and the Operations judging is done concurrently with the other four areas.
Aside from the time/man-hours spent judging, the only significant difference is how the block pad is judged; in NCRS Flight Judging, if the pad and stampings aren't "typical of factory production", appropriate deductions are taken. At Bloomington Gold, if the pad is judged not typical, the car is "boxed", and can't qualify for the Gold award - the best it can do is Silver.
Thanks John. Do you by any chance work the local NCRS meet? I was an assistant judge at one around 10 years ago at the GM Tech Center. I assisted in judging interiors on mid years. Very informative.
