I would like to know the specific differences between NCRS and Bloomington. Not which who thinks is better, just the differences in judging criteria.

Thanks--

In NCRS Flight Judging, five separate two-person teams (Operations, Exterior, Interior, Mechanical (underhood) and Chassis spend about 45 minutes each evaluating the car against the published NCRS judging standard for that year car.

At Bloomington Gold, a 4-person team (Exterior, Interior, Engine Compartment, and Chassis) spends about 23 minutes evaluating the car, using their own knowledge (almost all BG judges are also NCRS Master Judges, although no printed NCRS reference material is used on the BG judging field), and the Operations judging is done concurrently with the other four areas.

Aside from the time/man-hours spent judging, the only significant difference is how the block pad is judged; in NCRS Flight Judging, if the pad and stampings aren't "typical of factory production", appropriate deductions are taken. At Bloomington Gold, if the pad is judged not typical, the car is "boxed", and can't qualify for the Gold award - the best it can do is Silver.

PM sent to Brett.

Thanks John. Do you by any chance work the local NCRS meet? I was an assistant judge at one around 10 years ago at the GM Tech Center. I assisted in judging interiors on mid years. Very informative.

Yes, I've judged in NCRS for many years at the Chapter, Regional, and National level, and at Bloomington Gold as well; our Michigan Chapter is hosting the Motor City Regional here in two weeks - you'll find me crawling around under '67 big-blocks on Friday.
