'64 Shifter Problem
I just installed a new, repro shifter in my '64. I was going to rebuild the old one but it looks hopeless (thats another story).
When I'm in 3rd gear the shifter rod hits the floor/inside of the console.
Its preventing me from getting into 3rd gear fully. I used the alignment tool that came with the shifter and the shifter feel real good, especially compared to the old one. All the other gears are fine except 3rd.
I have tried to grind a little bit off of the shift rod but still not there yet.
I don't want to have to grind a hole in the floor/console for this to work(This would be a Bubba fix
)
Anyone had or run into a problem like this before? I would like to get the car fixed correctly, not start butchering the floor!
I would really appreciate any help or suggestions.
