Asking for opinions: Down to installing carpet and interior, considering some form of insulation under the Al Knoch carpet. Cost is not an issue as the space is so small, but other than heat from trans hump and motor, is it worth the extra effort? Would it help carpet life like home padding does? Given the car is a roadster, sound deadening is a moot point. Opinions?
I put about four boxes of Thermo Tec under the carpet, in the roof and inside the doors of my 66 coupe. It made a big difference in dropping the noise level and increasing the comfort of the car. I would do it again. Jerry
We Put Foil Backed Dynamat Under Our Al Knoch Carpets......
in our 1966 convertible and it's worked out just great. Just for starters, it's cut down on some of the road noise fom the car as well as some heat. We never had any extra padding added under the carpets - just the foil backed Dynamat.
If you have undercar exhaust, insulation will cut down on the heat coming through the floorboards from that and the transmission. I used Dynamat all over the interior of my '66 coupe.
