Default Coupe upper molding

Does anyone know of a good source for the molding that attaches to the roof on the inner door opening? Mine are aftermarket and fit like sh*#. They don't follow the roof line.

Mine from LICS did not fit. We had to make some "adjustments".

66since71,
I would be interested it knowing what the "adjustments" were.

The holes were too far apart to line up with the original holes in the body. While you can see it from hole to hole, the accummulated error showed up most clearly in the two outermost holes on either side, which were fully one diameter off at each end.

Also, because we used the original holes, the forward most end of the drivers side piece fell further below the roof line than the rest of that seal (up-down direction). Passenger side was OK.

In retrospect, I guess we could have just drilled some new holes in the body. It doesn't look too bad, unless you look closely. Just a little disappointed.

@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

Are you talking about the ones just above the door opening and hold the head liner in place? If memory serves me correctly those don't screw in, do they? I thought that they were fitted with slide in clips, and the post trim holds the forward end in while the rear is held by a screw that also secures the trim piece across the main roof area that houses the inside light.

Sorry about that, I re read the thread. I think You are correct, sounds like he's talking about the headliner moulding. Yes they slide in to the clips on the roof.

I am talking about the rubber seals above the door that are held on by screws. I had the same problem that 66since71 described. Are the ones from Corvette Rubber any better? I also thought about drilling new holes in the body but I really hate to do that. I don't want to be a Bubba.

We installed a set last year that were CRC brand. They are much better quality than what was available from GM 3832113 and 3832114. The NOS GM weatherstrips were junk at the end of the production run. The outer thick bead would dimple inward and they were nothing to write home about. Not to mention when GM would ship them in to us they would put a picking tag on them and stick them in a box full of other parts. By the time we would get them we would have to straighten them out just to sell them.

I do realize there are other productions of this weatherstrip, and I’m not sure what brand you installed. All CRC products carry the logo somewhere on the weatherstrip. (Sometimes you have to look real hard to find it, but it’s there).

When we installed the set in our shop, we started all the screws loosely. Then drew them down in unison and they seemed to fit pretty nicely. They did seem to pull down a little on the ends, but I think by starting the all the screws loose and then pulling it down a little at bit on each screw may have been the difference. We did not have any issues that I can remember.

I do have a few original NOS GM weatherstrips in stock we saved for comparison issues. I’ll check them to the CRC brand and see if there is a difference.

When I bought my weatherstrip from LICS, they represented that it was all from Corvette Rubber.

Harry,

I can check these to originals in a few days.

I just logged in to the main server and we shipped the last set in stock today. The stock order should be here in two or three days and I can see if there is a problem.

Just to be clear, my parts came from LICS, not you guys. So you really don't need to do this for me. In any case, I appreciate your follow up on issues like this here on the Forum. I know Larry (Woodsdesign) will also appreciate knowing what you find.

Thanks

Harry,

It’s to our advantage to know if there is a problem with a part. If we can stop a problem or help get it corrected it makes things better for everyone no matter where you buy your parts.

One advantage we have over most people is that we have installed the part and know if there are issues that can or can not be overcome.

If we can’t install it how can we expect you guys to do it!
