Default 66 427 Inline Fuel Filter ?

I saw in another thread (did not want to hijack that one) discusssion on installing a non factory inline fuel filter on a 67 435 engine. It made me think why one would be necessary. My 66 425 car also comes stock with no inline filter and I assumed the stone type filters in the dual carb inlets where doing there job as filters. I've never had a problem - I change the stone filters periodically - so is this a double protection issue?

I don't know if the stone filters do their job to any extent. I decided to go with the 65 396 fuel line and filter set up. I replaced my original 3606 carb with a double pumper from Holley and everything hooked up great. Seems to work fine in filtering the fuel and they now make a replacement filter for this setup. Cost is a little high but at least it is available now.

I assume that the carb on your 425 has two metering blocks, if so, the 396 set up should work. If it is a metering plate the carb is to short and won't work.
