Default 64 seat belt install dox?

My 64 does not have seat belts and I'd like to install them. I bought the hardware and belts from Zip. But there are no install instructions. Page 1-36 in my 1963 Shop Manual shows a picture but not much detail. I've searched the threads, which discuss 3 point, but not a seat belt install.

Does anyone have dox, article or instructions?

Does your car have seat belt reinforcement corners mounted underneath the body? If they are there it is pretty simple.

Doug, that is strange, previous owner must have removed them, since all C2s had belts. Like suggested get under the car and you will see the reenforced area, by the tunnel and a little outboard of the seats by the doors. Should have holes in them to accept bolt & nut. If it's not there, looks like the floorpans were also replaced with incorrect ones. Bill.

Yeah, when I bought my 65 there were no belts. I went to the trouble of buying the reinforments etc and realized that all that was there, I just needed to bolt the new ones in. Whoever did the new carpeting in mine just carpeted over where the mounting holes were for the seat belts. I pulled the carpet back and voilieau ( sp) everthing was there

Bill, are you sure about that? My 63 didn't have seat belts and didn't appear to ever have had seat belts until I put them in. I assumed (perhaps mistakenly) that they must have been an option.

Pat. I am positive all C2s had seat belts from the factory. Bill.

Here is the diagram from the '66 AIM.

On each side of the tunnel you will have these studs, a similar bracket at the rear door pillar.

Underneath the car you will have these studs for the "anchors", a similar bracket at the outside of the car.

I just took seats out and pulled carpet back. This car was frame off resto and looks like the corners were there (couple rivets still there), but removed during resto. Either forgot to reinstall or left off because 64 doesn't need seat belts.

But, after studying the areas, I know what I have to do to reinstall the understructure. Thanks everyone for the advice.

Default stud location

I looked at my 64 and I do not see the studs on the tunnel, but I see that next to the spot in the pics where they should be? there is a bolt going through the floor could that be the spot for a 64?

Default My favorite year,

Seat belts were standard in the year of 1964. From the above pictures it would appear that it represents 1965, as there were no holders for the buckles in 64 as there were in 65. Also my 64 didn’t have nuts on the inboard side but did have bolts, 4 bolts for the car. My 64 is a Feb build and had the worse colour of red belt you could have. Just as well it was a short run of that colour.

Bud.

ALL Corvettes had factory-installed seat belts as standard equipment starting in 1958, and had the anchors and reinforcements in '56-'57 so the owner or dealer could install them easily.

That's correct - the inboard belt attachment changed from bolts to studs and nuts for '65.

So by what your saying, the bolts on the floor behind the seat is for the seat belt? I did not see one on the door sides. I will have to pull the seat to find it. I have to gut the interior anyway to put in all the new sound deadener and carpets.any install tricks or adhesives needed? I'm going to order up some belts and hope for the best.

The inboard side has the bolts that a nut holds the belt to and the outboard side ( door side ) has a hole that a hex bolt goes into to hold the belt on. Feel around down there ( look on above diagram from the AIS) and you should be able to locate the hole ( much easier with the seats out)

I tried to remove the hex bolt on my 63 seat belt. The bolt is just spinning. I assume the nut on the inside of the reinforcement rusted off the plate. Does anyone know how to replace the reinforcements? Do I drill out the rivets? Is there a special rivet tool for the installation?
Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks Frank
