Default windshield chips

I was at a small car show a few mile away from home today. After I got home I was washing my original windshield and I noticed about a dozen very small chips in the drivers side of my windshield. I know they were not there before today. i didn't notice them on the way home because of a very light mist coming down. I don't tailgate and didn't notice any gravel hitting the car or windshield. Doesn't appear to be any paint damage, but I will wash and wax tomorrow to get a better look. Can a windshield shop fix this sort of thing or should I just leave the alone? They show up as small white flecks about the size of a pin head. Thats three weekend of bad luck in a row now. ( Bad rotor, Red wire air-car-itis and now this) I could fix the other two myself, but not this. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Would Haggertie's cover this or is it not worth the bother?

Thanks Craig

I would think it needs to be much worse for Ins. to replace it for you.

If the chip was slightly larger the glass shops can fix this to prevent cracking. They put an epoxy or similar product in the chip.

The problem with doing that is that the repair isn't invisible and if you want ins. to pick it up, you really need it to start cracking.

Sounds like you are describing sand pitting, as opposed to a repairable classic chip.

I don't think there's any repair that can be done for it.

The golden rule of thumb in regards to any windshield scratch or pit!

If you can feel it with your finger nail, it can not be fixed.

If a glass shop grinds or buffs it out, you will be left with prism in the glass. Depending on where the chip is located it will drive you nuts too!
