Default '62 ignition shield help

I can't get the right side verticle shield to mate up to the plug shield. Where does the"J" nut go, on the verticle or the plug shield? I certainly assume that the right verticle shield goes into the plug shield.

J nut goes onto the verticle shield, which then is covered by the plug shield.

And in the 25 years that my 62 restoration has been complete, I've never been able to get that J nut on mine

Good point! At least that J nut and it's wingnut are hidden. I can get the hole to the plug shield to come about 1" from each other. It seems odd to me that the verticle shield has a slot in it and that the j nut would go over the slot. You would almost think it would go over the hole in the plug shield, so you could slide the verticle shield slot around the wing nut and tighten it down.

My understanding is the wingnut penetrates the plug shield hole, and then threads into the J-nut on the vertical shield.

However in order for that to happen, I think one person needs to be pushing the vert. shield in towards the distributor, and another person needs to be pushing the plug shield in towards the head, and a third person with spaghetti-like arms needs to be laying on the floor trying to start the wingnut.

Since I only have 2 arms, I gave up.
