i've got a 63 roadster, 327, 4 speed. i need to know where all the wires go on the starter solenoid. i did a search and didn't find what i needed.
Do you have 2 or 3 wires????
The large one is easy, there is a terminal on the starter that has a small "s" that is the circuit for the starter sol. and one marked run or "r" which I think on the early cars was the circuit that bypasses the ballast res. and puts 12 volts on the coil for starting. Don't ask the color, no clue on that one. If you have a helper and a test light, ground the light and turn the key to start, get a light that is the start lead.
The purple or violet (start) wire goes on the small "S" terminal (closest to the block), and the pink (bypass) wire goes on the small "R" terminal on the outboard side. The battery cable, 12-ga. red (main power feed) wire, and 18-ga. black (battery gauge sensing) wires go on the large stud at the top.
ah ha! the black wire was really throwing me off. thanks john. now, i still have one more. it's black with white stripe. according to the schematic it's the ground for the wiper motor and blower motor. where do i connect it? do i just find a ground around the starter somewhere?

The black/white wiper/heater blower ground wire terminal goes under the head of the outboard starter-to-block bolt.
