I was talking to a friend today and he was showing me an e-mail he recieved from a friend. It listed a group of gas companys that do not buy foreign OIL. Here it is. If we have to buy- buy American. I looked online and these Distibutors seem to be on the right lists.

We switched from Shell to Conoco last month for that very reason. The price still hurts, but at least the profits stay here.
You may want to rethink that switch Mike. According to the DoE, in 2007 ConocoPhillips purchased 22,992,000 barrels from Persian Gulf countries. Read the truth here:
Good grief, not this one again. I won't list all the "errors" in the list (as includes almost everyone). Hess, gets the majority of its crude for its largest refinerary in St. Croix from Venezuela. Likewise Valero is a master of refining heavy crude which also comes from Venezuela. I could go on, but I won't as its repetitive.
Honestly, at this point, if I don't have to go out at midnight and wait in a long line on odd or even days to get a ration of 10 gallons, then I really don't give a dam% where it came from...
I get my gas from a local station where, at least, they still speak American.......
Yep....only English at the stations I use....vastly understandable "south of the border" accents fall in to that category also! $3.87 for 87 oc. today. Filled the Vette last week at $4.04....didn't blink. Oh, and I did NOT purchase any bottled water.....

Tom, I thought you were going to say "Honestly, at this point, if I don't have to go out at midnight and siphon it!"
Doesn't work well for a corvette forum junkie like me
I know, and some of these (off) topics do get a little overworked... especially when there isn't a whole helluva lot that can be done about it anyway, other than just grousing.
But, only Corvette mechanical talk can get a little dry too.*
I was thinking of the Jimmy Carter days; long lines, rationing, high prices...funny how everything goes in cycles.
You brought back some memories Tom. I remember buying my first (and last) compact car during that era. I had never bought a foreign car, but I seriously thought about buying a new Toyota Corolla. My conscience wouldn't let me do it, so I bought a Chevette.
Then, like most, I swung back to a full size car. (Olds Delta Royale Landau Coupe)
