1. window regulator into door (window regulator has a sweet spot that it will go in, you have to turn the window crank to find it)
2. new felts into door post
3. install window, when the felts and the rest of the window trim pieces are in place next to impossible to get window in place. Don't hook it up, because you need to get your fingers on both sides of the window trim pieces for install
4. install window felts and make sure that the little tab (needle like) gets into door post felt casing. There is a slot or hole for it to go into. When mine were installed, we had to use a block of wood and beat them into proper position while they were on the door. With a fresh painted door it does make it a bit nerve racking.
5. Prior to putting the window felt in place I was advised to smash it with a hammer. I did that and it fit fine otherwise it is supposedly too tight.

I think I got that right, I recall having to do the trial and error thingy.....which can be frustrating, but then that come with the territory. Above is what I did for my '60, got to think it is the same

Install the felt into the door post before you install it. There are several rivets that need to be swaged from behind. Make sure that the small screws holding the felt in place clears all of the fuzz and are very tight or they will bind the window!

hello all

thank you for your help with this,

i install the driver side, but i think i made a mistake with #4

" 4. install window felts and make sure that the little tab (needle like) gets into door post felt casing. There is a slot or hole for it to go into. When mine were installed"

i did not know where the needle was supposed to go.
also i had to cut the replacment felts becasue they were too long (maybe that was my mistake)

see picture

I'll take a stab.

I believe there are 2 different designs for window post/door felts.

One has the window post felts with a large diameter, and hollow, stainless bead that fits over the smaller stainless bead (needle) on the end of the door felts.

The other design has the door felts with a larger diameter and hollow stainless bead that fits over the smaller stainless bead on the window post felts.

Herb has a 60 model, I have a 62. I do not know if the different types of felt combinations were unique to a specific year.

Your picture looks like my 62 does.

only thing I would add, it looks like the window felt on the door needs to move to the door post. Doing that will take the gap out of the joint. I had a friend over to help me with that part since I hadn't done it before and he had. He used a block of wood and a hammer to get the right radius on the felt after getting the joint tight.

If the other end of the felt seems a bit long then you might have to do that. And it might be, looking at your inside and outside trim, there is a gap in that joint as well......looks like it needs to move "towards the door post and the vertical joint to get smaller".......

my 2 cents....

Mike, I just did the posts on my '61 after paint. Put the door posts in first and do not bolt them in yet. Now, put the new felts and reveals on the door and make sure the felt ends contact the vertical felts and mate up. Mine were the cheap ones and they may need to be trimmed to fit as mine did. The reveals should now slide into the bottom post. Loosely bolt in the posts and reveals and make a final fit before tightening. PM me if you still have problems.
