Waiting for my trailing arms from Gary Ramadie. Thought I d get the rear end support assembly together and get that up in the car while waiting. When I wrenched on the diff cover I came up blank for torque specs in the AIM. Course, Im not the sharpest knife in the drawer. Im sure its there but I couldnt find it. I just ratcheted each bolt till she was tight...used new lock washers.
Anyone??
Heres a pic of her ready to go back in. Aint she purdy???
Thank you! Torqued em all to 45 ft.lbs. Will be wrenchin this assy in in the mornin with the help of my neighbor Jim Minton.
Rebuild on the motor went very well. Only have 300 miles on her. Anxious to get some seat time on her. Hows it by you Scott? Any new projects your wrenchin on?

Jim -- Scott M. has given the correct torque values. Don't feel badly; these are hard numbers to find. Took me a while, finally located in '63 Corvette Shop Manual. Later GM manuals say to torque to spec., but don't list the value in the spec tables.
BTW, I see you have the diff assy. bolted to the frame X-member (with the rubber cushions). The torque for these frame bolts should be 55-65 ft.lbs, and not the 20-30 ft.lbs found in the '63 thru '66 shop manuals. There was a TSB (tech service bulletin) issued on this.
Really? Ya know, Im looking at that whole assembly being held in place by just those 2 bolts and I too said to myself ONLY 25-35 ft.lbs??? Yikes! Did replace the lock washers with fresh ones. 60 ft. lbs is where shes going to be.
