So you are making them from steel using a press and set of molds? Fascinating. Are there differences between originals and yours?
I still fab one cover from two passenger car valve covers. Pretty involved in order to get them right. Mine look pretty accurate, IMO. I'm sure someone will pick them apart though. You know how it is. I do the same thing. Can't help it.
It's 5:45pm and I'm just now beginning to do the body drop. I'll post pics later this evening "if all goes well". If not, I killed myself with a dull hacksaw blade!!
Brett, great work, could you post some before pictures ?

Unfortunately, I have a ton of pics on another computer that crashed. I lost a bunch of information and pictures. This also slowed me down on a 53-55 book that I was compiling information for.
The upside is that I got a new, faster, computer with a 22 in flat screen.
There are "some" pics that are on the thread 1953 #217 For Sale in the For Sale section. They show a few shots of the body during the paint prep. Not a bad ol' body. Nice original 1044 cloth front end.

Well, after a a busy month of restoration, it's finally done. The body was put on the frame just about two weeks ago. Very busy two weeks. Onto the next project!!
It was picked up this morning, headed to Iowa. Here are just a few shots before it left this morning.
