I just looked over the Pro Team site which I do once every couple of months for a laugh. They are showing a 64 coupe for $22,995 with matching numbers. I wonder what's wrong with it. Pro Team doesn't sell anything at market pricing. Anyone know anything about it?
It does have an engine, air and lots of SB stuff. However the valve covers are wrong so I question if the numbers really match or what they match. Must be a misprint!!!!
(I hope none of you Fiero guys get mad at me for that, I have great respect for Fieros, my good friend has 6 of them, the nicest being an all original 88 GT blk/grey and an 87 with a supercharged 3.8l motor from a Bonnie)
When I first got into Vettes naturally Proteam was the first place I looked. I recall I was looking at a 67 blk/red 427/435 car listed with factory side exhaust, matching numbers motor with original 3x2 setup and documents. Was about 3 minutes from putting a deposit on it and driving out there until I got the instinct to call them and ask some more questions and finally they admitted to an original side exhasust system, but it might not have been a side exhaust car, matching numbers, but maybe not original engine, documented paint work from their facility, e.t.c, e.t.c. For the first time buyer I think they need to annotate their "newspaper" more clearly....too easy to get swindled....granted one should never buy one of these cars without having an expert look, however....

I would buy a car from Pro-Team any time.I would also be very careful and make sure I knew what I was buying. Its called due diligence and all of us should practice it at ANY car dealership we go to.Cant tell you how many people I have counseled to take some one knowledgeable with them on thier venture into Corvette ownership. The purchase of a vintage Corvette is not the time to play macho. You cant expect any dealer to be forthcoming about or even know everything about every car they have in thier inventory. It is up to the purchaser to know exactly what he is buying, not the dealer.Pro team has good cars(some very good)and they have bad cars.If you cant tell one from the other, take someone with you who does.Pay them if necessary because it will be the best money you ever spend!.........Bill S
I would agree with what you say to a point. As you pointed out the dealer cannot know everything. Even experts can be fooled by phoney documentation and epoxy casting numbers on engine locks. The key is how does the dealer respond when a problem is found. An ethical and reputable dealer will stand behind what they sell. If a buyer subsequently discovers a fault that materially impacts the value or use of the car, that could not have been reasonably discovered, even by an expert, in my opinion that dealer should make good to the buyer.
From the stories I have heard the dealer in Ohio does not make good to people when these types of problems are discovered.
I agree with olredalert. It's always up to the buyer to check out any vehicle and determine if it's a fair value. Due diligence can be costly- considering you may invest in plane fare etc just to check a car out, but consider the consequences of paying too much for disaster whether it's from Proteam or anyone else. Caveat emptor......... :seeya
396Rat is on the left coast (Cali), and I'm in the great state of Massachusetts. It's the Endless Summer where he lives. Get's to drive his Black 396 vert all year round.
I bought my 56 from pro-team 8 years ago, they had the car I wanted at the time I wanted it at the price I wanted to pay, so I'm a happy camper.
My salesman was a JERK, but other than him, I would buy from them again....
and I should add, they sure do always have a wonderfull selection of vette's..
No I don't work there
and as a p.s., I actually think I coulds sell this ole 56 for a tidy profit if I wanted to do so, so buy what YOU like and YOU will never regret it ;)
