Hi does anyone have any suggestions on why my right side signal and courtesy lights are weak (dim). The car's a 65 and I have both new headlight and turn signal switches. I've change bulbs also but the right side still flashes very dim and stays dim when the courtesy lights are on. Any ideas? Bad ground somewhere?
Have you replaced the actual parking lamp housing? Can you check to see if you have a voltage difference between the two parking lamps? Could it be the flasher?
It's a bad ground on that side - check the bulb socket for corrosion, and the in-line connection of the parking lamp pigtail to the harness on the engine side of the inner fender. It's not the flasher - that circuit feeds both sides.

John you need to come to the garden state so I can buy you a Happy Meal! I did a little wiggle on the wires coming through the passenger inner fender and Holy S#@$, they work! Doesn't help that the boot was missing from the connection and the wires were corroded.

I have a 66 convert. and I've replaced all wiring harness on the car. I have two issues that I think are separate but wanted to get some help because I'm fresh out of ideas to troubleshoot.
1. When I signal using the left turn signal the dash "lights" indicator flashes and the left turn signal light flashes. Head light buckets are down. I turn on the high beams with the dimmer switch (new) and the "lights" indicator goes off and turn signal behaves normal.
2. When I signal right using the turn signal and the head light buckets are down, the head light bucket comes up in increaments equal to the right flashing turn light. Off the up, Off then up, Off then up in increments.
I also installed a new ididit column which checks out based on wiring. I purchased the column with the original harness connectors. I also had a little trouble with the engine harness headlight limiting switch connectors (blue tabs).
I appreciate any and all help I can get. Thanks in advance.

im with hitch.....check the ground for the housing and probably replace the flasher too........
Maybe I should have started an new thread. My issue was simular to Plan B's issue and I just added my issue to this one since the last post was in August. I'm new to message board do's and don'ts so please forgive me.
I have zero volts to both the left and right parking lamp with the head light switch on and No parking lights. Both head lights work fine. When I signal left or right the parking lamps flash as they should. (btw new flasher). I had a bent bulkhead harness connector, straighted it out and now the headlights no longer raise when the right turn signal is on. Both signals flash inside and outside the car as it should. I will double check the fuse and ground again tomorrow.
I cannot believe it is snowing in MEMPHIS.

Ok. I couldn't leave it alone and now I'm wondering if I'm chasing a ghost. When I only turn on the parking lamps only both lights come on. When I pull the **** all the way out to turn on the head lights the parking lamps in front go out. Is this working as designed?

Ben: YES, the switch is working correctly. The parking lights go out when you go to the headlamp circuit. You can relocate the parking light feed wire to the tail lamp circuit and then the parking lights will be on with the headlights.
Thanks Rich! and to all for the information. You have been a big help. I think I will leave this as is and move on to the tail lights. They are working correctly, but the previous owner replaced the back lights with regular red tail lights. I replaced the rear harness which deleted the splices for the back up tail lights to light when brakes are applied. I'm not sure if I should replace the red lights with the white back up lights or repeat the jumper/splice so that the red lights will come on when brakes are applied. This is a non-numbers matching car so original restoration is not an option.
Thanks again,
Ben
