1) Remove seats (you'll need the room)
2) Remove kick panels
3) Remove dash end-caps (small painted metal cap covering end of dash pad at windshield corners)
4) Pull dash pad corner towards center of interior, and remove 2 nuts (per side) holding windshield frame posts to car
5) Get on your back and remove all of the nuts from all of the studs holding the windshield frame base to the car. Note that I believe 1 or 2 of those nuts may be hidden by the defroster ducts which themselves may need to be moved.
6) Get out of car
7) With a helper, grab the windshield posts, and the bottom of the windshield frame, and lift up and you are done.

When lifting the windshield and frame assembly be careful not the break the tabs on the windshield posts. The tabs prevent the windshield frame from lifting when the convertible top is lached down.

Removing the defroster ducts is pretty much mandatory to get to the 2 bolts from what I'm seeing on my car. Don't you have to remove the wiper arms as well? Also the ST-12 says you have to drop the left side wiper transmission - is that bogus ? (I'm going to pull my '61 windshield frame off tomorrow morning.)

Sure, wiper arms should come off to make it easier to remove the windshield without scratching anything.

I don't remember having to do anything with the wiper transmission, but then again everything I typed above was from my memory of removing my windshield assembly in the 1980's some time.

Default W/S Removal

Just did my '62 and the ducts are in the way. Wiper trans does not have to be removed. Try to save your lower seal as the new one's (repo) are too thick. God Bless and Good Luck!
