Default Dipstick length?

What is the correct length dipstick for 68 427/390?
Where do I measure from, the top of the handle or
just the stick itself? I posted on the C3 but got no
response.

the real way to know if the dipstick is correct is to change the oil & filter, start the engine and then check the level on the stick..

yes, i know that didn't answer your question, but it will tell you if your dipstick & tube are correct.

The 1968 Corvette w/427 uses dipstick # 3925520 (Gr. 1.516) as per my 1969 Chevrolet Parts Catalog (effective Oct. 1968). The dimension from the "stop" to the FULL mark is 17 13/32" and from the "stop" to the ADD mark is 18 1/2" as per the catalog. My 1968 Chevrolet Parts Calalog (effective Oct. 1967) does not list a dipstick for the 68 Corvette w/427 but does list a dipstick for the 67 Corvette w/427
(GM # 3860316, 17 13/16" & 18 1/8").
