Default 1963 ammeter

My ammeter is not working. Before I install the new gauge I have one question. I have power when the car is running. I turned off the car and the connector is still hot. Should the connector still be hot when the car is turned off?

Default ammeter came back to life!

Before you do any disassembly, put your hand under the dash in the vicinity of the meter, check for loose connections and try again. This brought my "broken" ammeter back to life (real surprise). Good luck, Abe G
