Default Grunt work...

is no easier now then it was 9 years ago....hears my sign! Just got into removing the right rear spindle assembly today. It looks just as easy to take the entire arm off, I think. Need to get the spindle/bearing assembly out to have it repaired. Back at it tomorrow. Dennis

I always pull the entire trailing arm and get it up on the bench so I can get the specs correct.

OK guy, I've got this big circle on my back, it will make it easier for you, and I have my sign. Here's why I thought I needed to pull the spindle assembly. Back in June as I drifted (engine off) down into my garage I heard the continious rotational sound from the right rear and thought...oh S__t, it the bearing. Time passes with many thing to do during the summer and that lead up to this week. Put the car on jack stands last weekend and actually started work on Tues. Did all the usual to get at the assembly, but last night while laying in bed I remembered that when I took off the right wheel/tire assembly the lug nuts were very lose, and I know I didn't losen them prior. I have American Torque Thrust with spacers ( I know that a no no, but that's a story for another day) and normaly torque them to 100 lb. ft. For some unknow reason they got lose. I went with my gut feeling and put everything back. Didn't get the arm lose or the shock. Checked everything including the other lug nuts and put it on the road for about 50 miles of various types of driving including some spirited moves. All is 100% well and DAMN it feels good to hear that SB roar. The lesson learned is, check the SMALL and possibly obvious things first. Dennis

Dennis,

Glad it was something simple, I thought you were going to say it was the Diff. bushing, now how are you going to live this down at Carlisle

Tom,
I'm sure the focus next year will be on the Guam Bomb, but I'll still take the obvious darts etc. Did your dad pick up the Leman Vette? Dennis

Nice to see something that looked like a big job turn out to be easy to fix. Usually it's just the opposite. Every once in a while you deserve one of those!

Good to see you in Carlisle again. Take care,

Rich

Gray Ghost,
Body off jobs have started that way. In my case it would have been a "my body off to the morgue" job.

Rich,
Enjoyed talking with you about the details on your car, fantastic. Dennis
