Does anyone make a 67 BB hood with the hood support holes located on the driver's side? I have heard that someone makes such a hood with the option of putting the support on either side.
Also, there was recently a thread by someone who was selling hoods that were at Carlisle this year, but I can't find it now. He mentioned that he could change the location of the hood support. Would someone point me to it?
Take the prop and mark the two bolt holes on a piece of 1/4" flat bar stock. Drill and tap the bar stock to accept the two bolts.
Cut a slit along the inner edge of the hood big enough to slip in the bar stock. Drill the two matching holes in the glass. Put epoxy on the bar stock and slip it in place. Attach the prop rod, and re-glass the slit. Voila!
but a little differently. If you are not too concerned about it looking exactly like the opposite side, make a small plate up from heavy sheet metal, and pop rivet it to the visible side the hood frame. I recall that I used some very short 1/4" sheet metal screws to the mount the hood support to the plate. Hood is long gone now (traded it for an orginal hood for a '64 about 30 years ago...who knew?), or I'd send a photo or two.
A few months ago someone had a stack of them. They were manufactured with the option of mounting the support on either side. I think the price was somewhere near a $1ooo. He is a dealer I think.
Maybe someone else will remember who it was.
At least some of the GM service replacement stinger hoods had provisions for the support on both sides; don't know if Sermersheim makes one that way or offers the option.
I got mine from Larry at Legendary Corvette

They are at 903 Easton Road in Warrington, PA. Larry made my 65/66 BB hood with the support on the passenger side. He also makes 67 hoods. Hand laid product. Good quality (at least mine is) Used to be at Carlisle Spring, Corvettes and Fall. Don't know if he still makes the show or not. Haven't seen him in a couple of years now.

Unfortunetly, Legendary is long gone. I don't know the exact reason for their demise, but I do know Larry had some personal problems and his health is not good these days. It's a shame, because they made some of the best hand laid glass and also played a little with press molded parts.
Most of Legendary's molds still exist, but the company that has them can't market parts from them, I understand one of the big Corvette catalog companies has the rights to them.
I'm pretty familiar with the hoods listed before on the forum, that 67 stinger is just like the GM hood with provision for mounting the support on one side only. The hood with the provision for mounting the support on either side is the 65/66 big block. The reproduction is based on the GM service replacement hood, which had support plates in both sides of the hood (OEM 65 and 66 hoods had one support plate, the over the counter GM hood had both plates so that it could be used on a 65 or 66, eliminating the need to inventory 2 hoods).
I don't know of a aftermarket stinger with plates on both sides, but one may exist. I can do some checking tomorrow and PM you if I come up with something.
Have you considered just moving the support bracket, or even adding a new support bracket and leaving the old one in place in case you ever want to put a smallblock hood back on? It is a simple job to move the bracket to the other side, and requires nothing but some hole drilling for the mounting fasteners.
The GM service replacement hoods have mounting provisions on both sides, but these hoods are pretty crappy when compared to a press-molded hood.

I understand, but it is easy to patch the holes to be invisible, and I'll bet you won't be happy with the injected-molded GM service replacement hood. You might be able to get Jim at Semerschiems to make you a hood with the mounting on the other side. All of his hoods are made to order, so it should not be a big deal for him to put the nutplates on the opposite side before bonding the skin on. I would have him put the mounts on both sides while he was at it, so you could sell the hood to anyone in the future. You will really like his hoods. I have bought several of his 67 bigblock hoods, and I have always been very pleased with them. Expect a wait of 12 - 16 weeks on a hood.

I bought a 65-66 BB hood from a CF member, it is a PM hood and the fit was good. Had support holes on both sides, not sure about his 67 hoods but I'm guessing they are the same. Look in the C2 parts section for a post within the last year.
