Many of the vendors also attend Hershey next week. I have found that Fall Carlisle deals are hard to come by as the usual response from sellers is "I'll just take it to Hershey next week". Hershey, having a much larger International audience, is a little less effected by our economics.
Force of habit, I guess. Don't really need anything, but old habits die hard.
I don't think anyone will find any super deals at Fall Carlisle. Most of the parts vendors there are regular guys, selling their extra stuff. It's a hobby activity. They probably don't need the money. They'll bring it next year, or sell it on EBAY.
The vendors? IMHO, no deals there either. The only advantage is that you can buy and save shipping charges.

I agree and none of my cars need anything but dam I'm looking forward to picking up my buddie and heading out at 5AM. The only sad note is that family things will keep me away from Hershey for the first time in 20 years. There is no substitute for meeting guys who have an opinion on whether a 49 Hudson Hornet was faster than a 49 Oldsmobile. Shared insanity is a wonderful thing.
I came in this morning and I have to say that this busiest that I have ever seen it on a Wednsday.I would put it at 70% full at noon today. The prices have not dropped from what I see.One other issue is the quality of cars for sale is way down.A bunch of just so so cars.I did see the $90K '69 Z28 and it was nice but not that nice

Yep, me too, there Friday
Will be interesting to see the car prices as things are soft and getting softer by the day.

I'm here, been here since Tuesday night. I'm vending on J row, was very busy. Better than usual Thursday! Didn't load up on inventory because I was concerned about the economy effecting the show, now I'm worrying about running out of things!
Guy next to me has a sign up advertising 1956 Corvette VIN 0002 for sale, asking price...$260,000!!!!! Needs to be restored.
weather was good and the place was as crowded as I have ever seen it on a Thursday.Unfortunately for me no silver or black cars for me so far. There is really neat original paint red/white 365hp coupe. But I am holding out for a black or silver car for now anyway
Things I noticed at Carlisle this year, if vendors had prices on anything, if you picked it up, or were looking at it, the price automaticaly dropped, you didn't have to haggle. Car prices were back to were they were a couple of years ago, alot of driver midyears in the low $30K's. Seemed to be waaaay more project 55,56,57 Chevys down there for sale than anytime since the 80's. Two friends bought cars one a corvette Didn't see much selling though. Alot of Vendors said today was like a Weds, or Thursday not alot of money flowing. Did see a couple of high prices on cars, a barn fresh '67 300 vert asking $45000, looked more like $20K
I think that is a forum members car, sitting on the end of the isle on a trailer?

Good points Tom! A lot of spaces empty (for Fall Carlisle) in both the car corral and vendor areas. Thought there were a lot of project type cars and so-so cars. I had to really look to see cars that were catching my eye where as usually I can find something that I would love to take home even though I do not. Vendors I know stated sales from Thursday and into the afternoon of Friday were off yet there seemed to be a fair amount of people there today. It seemed the majority of people were doing exactly what the our group was doing, just walking around and checking things out.

This evening I drove down to Baltimore to check out a '63 coupe that a guy who saw the sign that I was wearing on my back looking for a car told me about.Turns out to be an older body off restored '63 split.Silver with black fuelie. The car was restored in 1993 and was top flighted in 1994.Does not look like much use since. Not sure it would still top flight with todays judging but it looks real close. The owner had owned the car since 1984.He said that he had is fun and it was time for some one else to enjoy the car.It is in my trailer in the motel parking lot right now
ps
now in the market for a set of knockoffs!!!

Great story and congratulations. I have heard many times how a sign hanging on the back/front has worked for Carlisle and Hershey. For that matter, can work anywhere How about some pics soon.
